Every child deserves the opportunity to read a brand-new book and it’s important to read for 15 minutes a day. It may be difficult to find time to head to your local Osceola County library branch with your busy schedule, but now there’s an opportunity for you to receive free books for your children at home, right to your doorstep.
The New Worlds Reading program is a free literacy program that will mail a new book to each eligible enrolled K-5 grade student in Florida each month. This program helps students build their at-home library based on their interests and provides families with practical and supporting materials that build reading confidence.
More than 100,000 students are currently enrolled, and over 335,000 books have been distributed. Here’s how to enroll your little reader:
The free books have specialized titles that come in different language formats, such as English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and braille. The New Worlds Reading program wants to support each student with free books to launch their love for reading.
While your pre-kindergarten reader may not be eligible for the New Worlds Reading program’s free books, check out our Parent Resource Page for books found that work towards your 15 minutes of reading and the 1000 books before kindergarten challenge.
