Spring break is an excellent opportunity to spend time with your child having fun, relaxing, and allowing them to take a break from the structure of school time. But don't forget that it's still important to spend 15 minutes a day reading. We've selected a list of three ways to create smart spring break fun using the Footsteps2Brilliance app and other Osceola Reads resources, so you can keep your little one entertained while still learning.
Go for a walk in your neighborhood or to the park with your child and be sure to point out animals, crawly critters, and unique plants you find along the way. When you get home, log in to Footsteps2Brilliance and have your child read a book from the Alphabet Animals (STEM Series) or Earth and Sky library to learn more about what you saw on your adventure!
There are tons of games to choose from on Footsteps2Brilliance. Each book has activities related specifically to its content. There is also a My Games section in each of the three levels of play with games centered around letters and sounds, spelling, reason, and logic. Educational games are a great way to sneak in educational activities while also allowing them to play games they're interested in.
Has your child had their fill of technology time? Have them sit down and complete our crossword puzzle activity! They'll have fun practicing word recognition and strengthening their cognitive muscles. Another idea is to take a trip to your closest library and check out one of our favorite quick reads. There truly is nothing that can replace children having books in hand.
