Can Your Child read 1000 Books Before Kindergarten?

One thousand books seem like a lot, but over time, and with 15 Minutes of Reading, our little readers will get to that number in no time.

The Osceola Library System has partnered with the non-profit organization 1000 Books Before Kindergarten to help Osceola County develop important literacy skills in our children. The library system has created Kids Book Bundles to be picked up in person, making it easier to take on the challenge and get started with early literacy.

How to get your Kids Books Bundle

  1. Go to the Osceola Library online catalog and search “Book Bundle”
  2. Find the bundle you are interested in
  3. You can find out how many items are in the bundle by clicking “Full Display”
  4. Click “Place Request”
  5. Log in with your library card number (all 13 digits) and your pin
  6. Call the library at 407-742-8888 for assistance if you forgot your pin
  7. Select which Osceola Library branch you would like to pick up your bundle of books
  8. Click “Submit Request”

You will then be notified when to visit your local library because your bundle is ready for pickup! After you’re done reading, you'll be able to get a whole new bundle after you return your first one. They change frequently, so there will always be something new to enjoy!

You can track your child’s progress on Beanstack to earn rewards! After your little reader has met their goal to read 1,000 books, they can make their mark on the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten banners at the libraries by placing their handprint on the Tree of Literacy.
