Best Books to Read Over Spring Break

Spring is in the air, and so is our Spring Break Reading Challenge! Our little readers may have a break from school right now, but it’s the perfect reading time and we have the best books to read during Spring Break. All of these books can be found at Osceola County libraries!

Frog and Toad are Friends by Arnold Lobel

Our favorite iconic pair celebrate springtime when Frog joyously wakes up a hibernating Toad so they can resume their fun together! These best friends have a great adventure to share in this story.

Spring Primavera by Ailie Busby

Discover the unique characters of spring in this colorful, bilingual book! No matter where we live in the world, we can learn something special about each season. Discover and explore the warmer cycle of the season through indoor and outdoor play.

Señora Mariposa by Ben Gundwesheimer

This bilingual book just makes it feel like spring! Follow the epic trip taken by monarch butterflies from Canada to Mexico. They meet people and go to places you can only imagine. Your little one will love this story of how butterflies journey to the forest their ancestors call home.

And then it’s Spring by Julie Fogliano

Following a snow-filled winter, a young boy and his dog decide that they've had enough of all that brown and resolve to plant a garden. They dig, they plant, they play, they wait... and wait... until at last, the brown becomes a more hopeful shade of brown, a sign that spring may finally be on its way.

Lola Plants a Garden by Anna McQuinn

Lola loves books, and the garden poems she and her mom have been reading inspired her to start her own garden! She gets books about gardening to learn more about how to garden beautiful flowers. They choose their seed, and they start gardening! But the hard part is all the waiting! In the meantime, Lola starts writing her own flower book, and soon enough, she has a garden full of flowers!

Our Spring Break Reading Challenge starts March 11, 2023, on Beanstack! Don’t forget to log your child’s minutes and books in Beanstack for special rewards and, if you aren’t signed up already, you can do so right on the Osceola County library’s website! For more information about our Spring Break Reading Challenge, click below. Be sure to share with us what you are reading using #ORSpringBreakChallenge.

With five library branches located throughout Osceola County, the Osceola County library has more books you can check out to celebrate springtime. Remember, with 15 minutes of daily reading, your child is reading for 5,475 minutes each year or 91 and a quarter hours. That’s some serious reading.
